Her craftsmanship is impeccable and her compositions thoughtful. We have some great transitional weather pieces in at the moment. Talk to us about custom orders with Ali Wear as well!

Final Fridays this Friday!

We hope you will be able to join us this Friday for the rescheduling of Final Fridays in Downtown Lawrence because of last week's snowstorm (aka thundersnow (aka my new favorite word)). We would love to see you and it should be a lot of fun! As we mentioned earlier, DJ On.It (Sean Foust) will be playing that evening at Essential Goods, and our next door neighbors at the Blue Dot Salon will be hosting their FF event as well. We hope to see you there!

Lillymoon Designs :: Leah Terranova

We are really excited to have just brought in work by Lillymoon Designs!  We fell in love with Leah Terranova's (the maker and creator of Lillymoon) work at the LOLA Giant shows and were impressed with how her creativity translates into so many different pieces. As seen below, she offers a variety of adorable and unique handcrafted hair accessories, as well as pillows and jewelry. The little bird's nest headbands and hair clips are so sweet and the sushi hair clips are greatness in the form of a hair accessory. So... check out Lillymoon Designs on this Friday for Final Fridays' make up date this Friday, March 1st, due to the snow storm last week! Speaking of which, we hope you were able to enjoy the beautiful snow... .

Final Friday, I mean First Friday!

Due to the snowy, snowy weather, Final Fridays was officially postponed until next Friday, March 1st. We will happily be participating in Final Friday, or um, First Friday, next week with a variety of other galleries and shops and hope to see you all there! Until then, enjoy the beautiful snow and a cup of cocoa or two!

Final Fridays in Downtown Lawrence

We have a big fat crush on our fair city of Lawrence, KS, and Final Fridays every month is just one of the many reasons why we do! In addition to all of the local artists' work we will have at Essential Goods, check out all of the  great shows going on this Friday! Don't forget to slide over to SeedCo Studios and Invisible Hand Gallery on the 800 block of Pennsylvania St. for Final Fridays. And The Percolator too (it's the little building with the green awnings in the alley tucked in between The Lawrence Arts Center and 9th St).

I went in to Wonder Fair Gallery the other day to pick up a little something for my husband for Valentine's Day and was reminded of all of the greatness that comes out of our city and regionally art-wise (Wonder Fair is a must-see if you haven't checked it out already, btw). So... brave the last bastion of winter this Friday and check out some great art!

Final Fridays at Essential Goods!

Essential Goods is excited to participate in Final Fridays in lovely downtown Lawrence again this month! On Friday the 22nd we will be open until 9 pm and will feature a variety of local artists' work in our shop. In addition to great art, we will have DJ On.It (Sean Foust) DJing that evening, so you definitely don't want to miss out this Friday! Sean has got some mad DJ skills and we are lucky to have him throwing down some beats in our shop that night. You can catch him playing at the Jazzhaus with other great Lawrence DJs (their show is Bass Function).

So join us at 6 pm downtown this Friday for a great evening, great art and great music! Don't forget to slide by the Blue Dot Salon next door, as they will have a variety of artwork up for Final Fridays as well (and they know how to throw a party).

See you Friday!

Butternutsquash

We are excited to have just brought in jewelry by local artist Larissa Wilson of Butternutsquash! Larissa creates her one-of-a-kind pieces from recycled materials and found objects. For example, bobby pins are created from cardboard bingo tokens that have been covered with comic conversations. Bracelets are handcrafted from recycled industrial cardboard tube and covered with recycled wallpaper and then made water resistant with acrylic varnish. I discovered Butternutsquash at the 2010 LOLA Giant show and am thrilled to have her work in Essential Goods!

We are excited to have brought in a variety of work by Amanda Corbin of Dazzling Diva Bowtique! She creates an array of adorable accessories for kiddos, such as headbands with fabric rosettes for infants and headbands with handcrafted removable bows. We also carry a variety of her ribbon bow holders that can hang from the wall and have your child's bows clipped onto them - functional and a cute addition to any room!
